INGOLSTADT, Germany - 30 December, 2010: It will be one of the most spectacular races ever to be seen in the Audi FIS Ski World Cup: On January 2, the world’s best athletes meet in Munich and fight on Olympia hill in the parallel slalom for valuable World Cup points. Audi presents a comprehensive program and sends its two fastest employees onto the slope.

He previously conquered the notorious Ganslernhang in Kitzbühel and clinched the team competition gold medal in the World Championships at Bormio. The World Cup race in Munich this coming Sunday (January 2) is nevertheless something unique: Felix Neureuther pits himself against the international elite in the parallel slalom on the Olympia hill.

Audi is there too in the heart of the Bavarian regional capital when World Cup points are awarded in an Alpine skiing discipline for the first time. In addition to lending its name – the Audi FIS Ski World Cup is staged for the ninth year – the Ingolstadt based automobile manufacturer supports the premiere with many events: An off-road park is laid out on the Olympic grounds where visitors can quite literally “experience” for themselves the sporting off-road qualities of the Audi Q5 and Q7 between 13:30 and 18:30.

Other leading athletes from the Audi family will also be there: Two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström and current Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller enter the Olympia Park with a DTM car. Audi also deploys its two fastest employees in the shuttle service: Ekström and Rockenfeller will bring the skiers from the finish area to the start house after the athlete presentation – but in sporting production models.

The competitions begin at 16:30. The near 200 meter long slope starts at a height of 564 meters, has a maximum gradient of 33 degrees and is illuminated by floodlights. The best 16 women and men compete against each other in the parallel slalom till just the two winners remain. They can then enjoy 100 World Cup points – and rejoice with the fans at the awards ceremony at 18:15.
