WOLFSBURG, GERMANY – December 29, 2010: Dr. Andreas Offermann (54) will take charge of the global coordination of the Volkswagen Group’s National Sales Companies (NSC) effective April 1, 2011. He is currently responsible for sales coordination at Porsche AG. In his new function, he will report direct to the Group Board of Management member for Sales and Marketing, Christian Klingler.
Klingler emphasized: “Our Group’s growth and increasing market dynamics present demanding challenges in terms of coordinating our sales companies. The National Sales Companies work in direct contact with dealers, thereby ensuring the implementation of sales targets under the Group’s Strategy 2018. They are therefore a key factor in Volkswagen’s success. Under the guidance of Andreas Offermann, the importance of this core business will grow significantly.”
Dr. Offermann succeeds Jonathan Browning (51) who, as announced, was recently named President and CEO of Volkswagen of America. Dr. Offermann studied business management and completed his doctorate at the Department of Marketing and Marketing Research at the University of Cologne. He subsequently held various senior management posts at BMW AG, including head of production planning for importers’ markets and head of product and volume planning, marketing planning and finance controlling for the overseas region. He joined Porsche as head of export sales in 1994; he was given responsibility for the coordination of all brand sales activities in 1999.
