Las Vegas, Dec 27, 2010: The Indoor Kart World Championship heads back to Europe for its 2011 edition. The world's best indoor kart drivers will meet again at another new world class track to battle it out for the #1 Title in the sport. This time, the stage will be Belgium's largest indoor kart racing facility, Eupener Karting, in Eupen, Belgium.

The 2011 Indoor Kart World Championship promises to be one of the best in the event's history. Eupener Karting is not only the largest indoor kart racing center in Belgium, but a top notch facility in every way. Eupener Karting has a reputation for being one of the best tracks in the region for competitive indoor kart racing, and features a very challenging track with a lap of over 1 minute long! Over 150 drivers from numerous countries across Europe and the World are expected to attend the 2011 IKWC.

Scheduled to happen from July 25 to July 29, 2011 the event will feature 8 races ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration. The IKWC also features the optional Nations Cup race, a 4 man relay, 3 hour endurance race scheduled for July 24. New for 2011 will be an increase of karts on track, with 30 kart grids on the Semi-Final, Final Grand Prix, and Nations Cup races!

Eupener Karting's track is long and very challenging, with a lap of 70+ seconds. The track includes a huge bridge which spans over 3 roads of track underneath. Also planned is the addition of an outdoor sector to be used for some of this year's races. This would extend the track another 200 to 500 meters, which would be by far, the longest track ever used in IKWC competition. It would also be the first time an outdoor sector would be used at the World Championship, and the first time the outside weather may play a more direct part in the competition.

As part of the KIC’s expanded family of competitive karting, the performance indoor market will continue to play an important role in building new enthusiasts as well as providing a year round driving experience.

All drivers will race in karts provided by Eupener Karting. The Belgium track will be fielding a brand new fleet of Sodi GT4 karts, which will be equipped with the reliable Honda GX 270cc (9hp) engine, used by nearly all the best indoor rental tracks in the world. American tire manufacturer DeCuzzi Tires is back for a 2nd year both as IKWC sponsor and team sponsor, and all karts will be equipped with DeCuzzi Tires for the 2011 Indoor Kart World Championship races. All mechanical work to be done by track staff. Drivers only focus on the best part of racing: their driving performance.

At the Indoor Kart World Championship, all drivers race directly against each other for the overall World Championship Driver title regardless of team, age, sex, and weight. Simultaneously, drivers are also competing in Team World Championship, as well as sub-categories, which include: Junior (up to age 15), Women's, and Masters (age 40+).

The Indoor Kart World Championship is an "Open" event. This means any driver can participate. There is no need to have a racing license or to be currently affiliated with any specific organization. Drivers need to be at least 14 years old (13 ok with previous racing experience). In IKWC competition, drivers will be equaled at 90kg. Extra weights to meet minimum are provided at the track. Minimum recommended driver weight is 50kg (with helmet & race suit). The Eupener Sodi kart chassis holds 30kg in ballast weight provided by the track. Any driver with weight at 50kg-60kg will need to bring their own weight seat insert (or weight vest, etc...) to make the 1kg - 10+kg difference.
