Mitsubishi Motors Announces Production, Sales And Export Figures For November 2010

TOKYO, JAPAN – December 27, 2010:
Production: global total and in Japan
Total global production
for November came in at 103,848 units, 11.2 percent up over November 2009
and the thirteenth consecutive monthly increase since November 2009.
Production volume in Japan at 57,943 units was 12.9 percent up
year-on-year, the twelfth consecutive monthly year-on-year increase.
Passenger car output at 51,401 units was 10.6 percent up over same period
last year. Commercial vehicle output at 6,542 units was 37.4 percent up
year-on-year.
Sales in Japan
Vehicle sales in Japan in November totalled
12,127 units, 8.4 percent down on the same month last year and for the
third consecutive month they failed to exceed the figure for the previous
year. Sales of passenger cars at 7,783 units were 16.9 percent down
year-on-year, while sales of commercial vehicles at 4,344 units were 11.8
percent up over same period last year. Registered vehicle sales volume at
3,026 units was 34.7 percent down on the same month last year. Minicar
sales volume at 9,101 units was 5.7 percent up year-on-year.
Production overseas
Overseas production volume totalled 45,905
units, 9.1 percent up over November last year and the thirteenth
consecutive monthly year-on-year increase. By region, output in Asia at
38,555 units was 12.6 percent up year-on-year, on the back of 18.4 percent,
11.4 percent, 28.6 percent and 12.6 percent increases over same period last
year at MMTh in Thailand, South East (Fujian) Motor in China, KRM in
Indonesia and MMPC in the Philippines respectively. In North America,
output at 2,481 units was 5.8 percent up over November last year. In
Europe, output at 2,387 units was 11.7 percent down year-on-year due to
falling sales in the region. In South America, output at 2,160 units was
8.9 percent down.
Export shipments from Japan
Total exports from Japan of 43,252
units were 41.2 percent up compared to November 2009, marking the twelfth
consecutive monthly year-on-year rise. Exports to Asia at 6,586 units were
a very healthy 131.7 percent up year-on-year, mainly on the back of a 201.0
percent year-on-year increase in shipments to China and by continuing firm
levels to Malaysia and the Philippines. Exports to North America at 6,755
units were 1.7 percent down as a 41.0 percent year-on-year increase in
shipments to the United States was dragged down by a 25 percent
year-on-year drop in shipments to Canada. Exports to Europe at 13,710 units
were 151.6 percent up over last November, boosted chiefly by a large
increase in shipments to Russia and by higher shipments to Germany, the
U.K., Spain and Italy.
