Dacia Duster Takes Top 'Autobest 2011' Award

AUTO CENTRAL – December 13, 2010: The Autobest 2011 award for the best car available on the market in 2010 went to Dacia Duster.

  • The Autobest jury comprises 15 automobile industry journalists working in emerging markets (Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey).
  • Dacia Duster, which has been on sale in Europe, Turkey and the Maghreb region since last Spring, is enjoying considerable success in all the markets where it is sold, with more than 60,000 units registered to date.
  • Thanks to its 4x4 styling cues, genuine off-road ability and unrivalled interior space for its price, Dacia Duster lost no time winning over customers looking for a strong, reliable and affordable offroader.
  • On both the marketing and production fronts, Duster has a truly international calling and, from 2011, will be launched in a number of new markets with Renault badging: It will be marketed in the Gulf States, with vehicles supplied by the Pitesti factory. In Brazil, the Curitiba plant will supply the Brazilian and Argentine markets. Duster will go on to be manufactured at the Avtoframos plant in Moscow, Russia. In Colombia, the Medellin plant will supply the Colombian, Mexican and Chilean markets.

    On December 10, Dacia Duster took the 'Autobest 2011' award for the best car available on the market in 2010. The jury based its classification on 13 criteria which included fuel consumption, versatility, interior space and styling. Points were awarded for each one of these criteria and Dacia Duster's score totalled 863 points from a possible 3,600. Dacia Duster figured at the top of the lists of 10 members of the jury. The members of the Autobest jury hailed from 15 countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Macedonia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and Malta.
