Once upon a time, when printed publications were still relevant in the free world, and your fingers would get dirty from touching the pages (god forbide that you wore a white shirt while reading the periodical, there was a magazine published by Crain Communications called "Automotive News." It was an expensive industry-related paper to subscribe to and an even more expensive publication to advertise in.

Well, appearantly, Automotive News is still being published and now they have an online component (welcome to the 21st century, boys) that the publisher charges an access fee to view the content. But the publisher just released a story that for one week - yes, an entire 7 days - Automotive News will be having a Free Access Week to its subscriber-only content, followed by a reduced annual subscription rate of just $79.

Frankly, to paraphrase what Keith Crain once said to my partner in the mid-1990's as we helped pioneer the World Wide Web on the Internet, I say back to Keith Crain, "So you guys are still around?"

The good part about Automotive News' $79 subscription rate is what it means to the market value of The Auto Channel. Based on our traffic numbers we're worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And when you consider that we have more content, along with far more diverse content formats, we're probably worth a billion dollars! Heck, I'm going for the double scoop of ice cream this weekend, we can afford it.

Anyway, check out the FREE week on Automotive News next week (while you continue to enjoy our FREE content), and then spend every week of the year with TheAutoChannel.com. We're always free, always the best.
