Mitsubishi Motors Announces Production, Sales And Export Figures For October 2010

TOKYO - November 26, 2010: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for October 2010.
Production: Global total and in Japan
Total global production
for October came in at 106,909 units, 25.7 percent up over October 2009 and
the twelfth consecutive monthly increase since November 2009. Production
volume in Japan at 61,818 units was 33.2 percent up year-on-year, the
eleventh consecutive monthly year-on-year increase. Passenger car output at
53,802 units was 32.6 percent up over the same period last year. Commercial
vehicle output at 8,016 units was 37.4 percent up year-on-year.
Sales in Japan
Vehicle sales in Japan in October totalled
8,834 units, 29.6 percent down on the same month last year and for the
second consecutive month sales failed to exceed the figure for the previous
year. Sales of passenger cars at 6,038 units were 35.9 percent down
year-on-year and sales of commercial vehicles at 2,796 units were 10.6
percent down year-on-year. Registered vehicle sales volume at 2,499 units
was 48.7 percent down on the same month last year. Minicar sales volume at
6,335 units was 17.5 percent down year-on-year.
Production overseas
Overseas production volume totalled 45,091
units, 16.6 percent up year-on-year and the twelfth consecutive monthly
year-on-year increase. By region, output in Asia at 38,289 units was 22.7
percent up from the same time last year, chiefly on the back of 38.1
percent and 60.7 percent increases at MMTh in Thailand and KRM in Indonesia
respectively. In North America, output at 2,863 units was 13.4 percent up
over October last year. In Europe, output at 1,226 units was 41.0 percent
down year-on-year due to falling sales in the region. In South America,
output at 2,280 units was 7.3 percent down year-on-year.
Export shipments from Japan
Total exports from Japan of 39,485
units were 58.8 percent up year-on-year on October 2009, marking the
eleventh consecutive monthly year-on-year rise. Exports to Asia at 4,838
units were 29.7 percent up from same time last year, mainly on the back of
a healthy 99.0 percent increase in shipments to China and by a continuing
rise in shipments to Malaysia and the Philippines. Exports to North America
at 7,844 units were an encouraging 48.8 percent up year-on-year, with
shipments to the United States rising by 41.0 percent and to Canada by 71.0
percent over the same period last year. Exports to Europe at 13,754 units
were 289.7 percent up year-on-year, boosted chiefly by an over 900 percent
increase in shipments to Russia and by higher shipments to Germany, the
U.K., Spain and Italy.
