Friendly MIS Policies Allow For Expanded Fan Amenities

BROOKLYN, Nov. 9, 2010: Bringing your own food and beverages into the grandstands has always been a long-standing tradition at Michigan International Speedway.

And in 2011 the speedway will allow guests to bring even more of their favorite items to a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race with the announcement of new gate policies now in effect.

Fans may bring in one soft-sided cooler measuring up to 14 x 14 x 14 inches or 2,700 cubic inches – six times the size previously permitted. Coolers of this size typically have a removable plastic liner and are branded to hold 24 to 36 beverage cans.

To ensure these items fit underneath grandstand seats and do not block walkways, coolers with telescoping handles and wheels will not be permitted. Hard-sided coolers will not be allowed in the gates.

“We recognize fans spend the entire race day here at MIS so for them to be able to bring more food and beverages from home will help them with their experience and personal budgets,” MIS President Roger Curtis. “This is just another thing in our on-going efforts to improve the guest experience while they are here.”

In addition to the soft-sided cooler, fans may also carry in one lightweight backpack or daypack similar to those used by school students to carry in other items such as cameras, souvenirs purchased throughout the day and race scanners.

Fan comfort and safety are a top priority so all items carried into the track will be subject to a thorough and complete search by security personnel prior to entering the ticket gates.

For fans who do not bring in a cooler or backpack, an express gate will be open to speed through the gate.

“Along with a $20 general admission ticket, kids 12 and under free in general admission, 17 and under half price in any reserved seat and free parking, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Michigan International Speedway are more affordable than ever.” Curtis said.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.

The best, guaranteed lowest prices in 2011 will go to renewal customers and new customers who make a $30 goodwill deposit. Renewals are under way for 2010 ticket holders. New customers can log onto www.MISpeedway.com or call 800-354-1010 to leave a deposit. That deposit ensures race fans get the best pricing for 2011.
