Skip Barber National Drivers Serralles and Pigot Finish Fourth and Seventh in Walter Hayes Trophy Final

Lakeville, Connecticut (Nov. 8, 2010). Last month, Skip Barber Karting Shootout Winners and Skip Barber National drivers Spencer Pigot and Felix Serralles were announced as the winners of the Team USA Scholarship. Their competition in the Walter Hayes Trophy event at Silverstone last weekend was the final competitive experience of the scholarship. Pigot made his Grand Final start from row two on the grid. By the third lap, Pigot made his way to fourth position when another driver attempted a pass, failed and spun into Pigot. Pigot only lost two positions but was soon victim again to another incident, dropping down to eleventh. By the end of the race, Pigot impressively worked his way back up to finish seventh. “It was a disappointing result because I had the pace to run right with the leaders if it wasn’t for the multiple collisions,” said Pigot.

Serralles started on row three and used the incidents on track to his advantage, making his way to the top five. He made an impressive pass on Michael Vergers to claim the fourth place finish. “It was a great weekend and I made it to the final which was the most important thing,” said Serralles. “Cliff Dempsey and the team did a great job all month and I really enjoyed being here and being a part of the Team USA Scholarship.”

Since 1990, the Team USA Scholarship program has been recognizing young American drivers, giving them opportunities to compete in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and the Walter Hayes Trophy event at Silverstone.
