SYDNEY – October 25, 2010: For a second year Hyundai Motor Company Australia and the Hyundai dealer network have joined forces to support Blue September, a nationwide awareness and fundraising initiative about men facing up to cancer.

Blue September raises awareness and funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Bowel Cancer Australia, as well as helping men reduce the risk of developing cancer by getting the message out that making healthy lifestyle choices can prevent male cancer deaths.

The Hyundai dealer network pledged to contribute $10 to Blue September for every new Hyundai retail sale during the month of September across 144 dealerships nationally. Based on 6,012 sales of new vehicles by the Hyundai dealer network during the month of September, a donation of $60,120 will be handed over to Blue September.

This much needed donation will be used in the continued work by the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Bowel Cancer Australia to fund breakthrough research projects aimed at eliminating the devastating effects of cancer, and through working closely together with the research community and its supporters to achieve the dream of finding a cure for the one in three Australians who will be touched by cancer.

“The Hyundai dealer network is delighted to be able to make a donation of this size to support the continuation of the fantastic work undertaken by Blue September,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s Director of Marketing Oliver Mann. “Our dealers have done a terrific job in September to achieve sales at this level, and to offer financial support for the programme. We are all very proud of our ongoing association with Blue September.
