Volkswagen Group Sales Strengthens Its E-Mobility Activities

WOLFSBURG - October 12, 2010: Jörg Sommer (45) started in the newly-created post of sales director for e-mobility at the Volkswagen Group on October 1, 2010. He reports to Christian Klingler, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG responsible for Sales. Sommer was previously brand director for the premium segment and electric vehicles at product planning with Renault (Paris).

Christian Klingler commented: ‘The Volkswagen Group will be assuming a leading role in

e-mobility, as elsewhere. That means Sales must focus intensively on this subject. Jörg Sommer will perform this function for all of the Group’s brands and markets, driving e-mobility forward.’

Jörg Sommer is an industrial engineering graduate and also holds an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Following posts in future projects marketing and in product planning at General Motors Europe, he joined Daimler AG in Stuttgart in 2000, where he was director of product strategy in the Mercedes Car Group, becoming product management director in 2005. Sommer moved to his post at Renault in January 2009.
