Maple Grove Raceway, October 5, 2010: Jeg Coughlin Jr. enters this weekend’s NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals as the sixth-seeded driver in the Pro Stock class. Coughlin trails leader Mike Edwards by 151 points with three events remaining in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs.
Jeg Jr. has won the Pro Stock title at the last two Reading events. In 2008, he defeated Dave Connolly in the final and ran his unbeaten string to eight-consecutive rounds by beating Johnny Gray in the 2009 final. Jeg Jr. also won the Reading race in 1999, beating Mark Pawuk in the final.
After the first 20 races of the 2010 season, Jeg Jr. has claimed four wins and appeared in six final rounds in NHRA national event competition. He earned victories in Houston, Atlanta, Sonoma, and Brainerd and also reached the final round in St. Louis and Denver.
Jeg Coughlin Jr. is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg Jr. also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.
In 11 appearances at Maple Grove Raceway, Jeg Jr. has a round win record of 18-8 in Pro Stock competition.
In his 11 starts in Reading, Jeg Jr. has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field 8 times including a best of No. 2 in 2001. His average starting position at this track is No. 6.
With 52 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg Jr. ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (97), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (63) have more titles.

Jeg Jr. will be pulling double duty in Reading as he will also be behind the wheel the JEGS.com Super Comp car that is normally driven by his nephew, Troy Jr. This is the same car that Troy Jr., drove to a win last month at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.
If Jeg were to win the Super Comp title in Reading, he would become the first driver in NHRA history to win in six different categories. Jeg Jr. has already won in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Super Gas, and Top Dragster during his career.
As a sportsman racer, Jeg Jr. won the Super Gas title at the 1996 Reading event. Overall, he is 4-0 in final rounds at Maple Grove Raceway.
The JEGS team will also be represented by Jeg Coughlin Jr’s fiancée, Samantha Kenny, who will be racing her JEGS.com dragster in the Super Comp class. Samantha is a former national event champion who won the 2008 Norwalk event.
In 280 career Pro Stock races, Jeg Jr. has reached the final round 83 times, recording 52 wins. Including his 14 sportsman victories, Jeg Jr. has won a total of 66 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg Jr. has appeared in 102 final rounds, 83 as a professional and 19 as a sportsman racer.
During his Pro Stock career, Jeg Jr. has recorded 469 round wins while incurring just 215 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 67 times.

In Reading, the JEGS Mail Order team will host professional bowler Danny Wiseman. Wiseman is the winner of 12 major titles, and has bowled 40 perfect 300 games in his career. He is an avid automotive enthusiast and drag racing fan and will join the JEGS team in Reading and Las Vegas.
