KCIR TAKES SUMMIT TEAM TITLE, GOHEEN REPEATS

            TOPEKA, Kan. (September 19, 2010) - Kansas City International Raceway jumped to the top of the team standings and took home the Team Championship for the NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals at Heartland Park Topeka, Topeka, Kan., while Darrel Goheen picked up where he left off last year as he took the win in the Sportsman class for the second year in a row.  Kansas Int'l Dragway finished second in the team standings, 2-points behind KCIR at 48 and SRCA Dragstrip was third at 45.
            Goheen, Hays, Kan., drove his '67 Chevelle to a lap of 12.475 seconds at 107.18 mph for the win over Mark Johnson, Wichita, Kan., who left early with a foul start in his '67 Caprice.  Goheen, along with the winner's this weekend in Super Pro, Pro and Pro Bike will advance to the Summit Racing Series National Championship where they will do battle with the winners from the other six NHRA Division Finals in Pomona, Calif., at the Auto Club NHRA Finals Nov. 11-14.
            In Super Pro it was Adam Chioda, Frederick, Colo., posting a winning run of 8.720 seconds at 169.00 mph for the win over Doug Kutina, Lake City, Minn., in his '08 dragster.
            Joining Goheen and Chioda in the winner's circle were Shawn Anderson and Toby Giese in the Pro and Pro Bike classes respectively.  Anderson, Chippea Falls, Wis., had a great run of 9.613 seconds on a 9.61 index in his '00 Firebird to beat Brett Speer, Ottertail, Minn., and his '89 Camaro.  Giese, Kanoyohi, Minn., went 9.088 seconds at 135.58 mph on his '83 Suzuki in defeating last year's champion Michael Nichols, Knoxville, Iowa.
            Kyle Sanders, Topeka, Kan., took the final trophy in the High School class by knocking out Saturday's Race of Champion winner Shad Bodey, Rye, Colo., in the semifinals then holding off Tyler Selden, Glenwood, Iowa, in a double breakout final round win in his '88 Mustang.
