 Anderson Tops the Field on Friday at zMAX

Greg Anderson made a bold move prior to the O’Reilly Nationals in Concord, NC, as he looked to improve his performance, stepping out of the Summit Racing Pontiac with which he had won races in Norwalk and Seattle earlier this season and going back to the chassis with which he had competed in 2009.  After the first day of qualifying at zMAX Dragway, the change seemed to be working, as the three-time champion posted the quickest time of the day at 6.624-seconds to capture the provisional No. 1 qualifying position.  
 
This marks Anderson’s best opening-day performance of the season, a showing made even better by the fact that his teammate Jason Line in the second Summit Racing Pontiac, sits third, with Ronnie Humphrey in the Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pontiac leased from KB Racing in fourth.
                              
“Our entire Summit Racing team got off to a great start today, and I’m very proud of them,�?? said Anderson.  “Obviously, the testing we did here last week is paying dividends, showing what a great job the crew has been doing, and how hard they have worked.  Obviously it was a good call by the boys to bring out another car for this weekend.  
 
“On both runs, the car was pretty happy, and when you combine that with how well Jason and Ronnie are running, I think we have three good chances to win on Sunday.  I don’t think you could ask for any more on the first day.  This is certainly the best start to a weekend that we have had all season, and we certainly hope that it ends the same way.�??
