FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
K-PAX Racing’s Volvo S60s Qualify First and Third For Second Race at VIR
Alton, VA (September 12, 2010) – K-PAX Racing’s Volvo S60s will start
from the first and third positions on the grid for Sunday’s race at
the Race Keeper World Challenge VIR Grand Prix presented by MTM
Special Ops Watch at Virginia International Raceway.
Andy Pilgrim will start from the pole position, after pacing the GT
field with a best time of 1:56.086 (101.408 mph), in the number 8 K-
PAX Racing Volvo S60. Of note, Andy captured the pole in a car from
last year after the team elected to forego making a transmission
change in the current car.
“The set-up, it’s similar, obviously. But the unknown is going to be
how the race set-up is because we didn’t do any testing. We obviously
ran a good lap to get pole, but we don’t know what it is for the race
set-up,” Andy said of the switch.
“We needed that manufacturer’s point and we got that, now how is it
going to be in the race? We don’t know,” he said.
Andy’s teammate Randy Pobst, put in a quick lap of 1:56.370 (101.160)
in the number 6 Volvo, to secure the third spot on the grid. Kuno
Wittmer will start second in a Dodge Viper after recording a best time
of 1:56.206 (101.303).
“The K-Pax Volvo ran perfectly, spot on. We’re third, an excellent
position to start the race. I’m lined up behind my team mate Andy
Pilgrim and I congratulate him for a great job in getting the pole. I
think we’re going to be K-Pax Volvo express today, 1-2 all the way.
That’s what I’m looking for,” Randy said.
Sunday’s race at the Race Keeper World Challenge VIR Grand Prix
presented by MTM Special Ops Watch will take place from 1:35 p.m. to
2:35 p.m.
