Krohn Racing: Utah 250 Post-Race Report The Utah 250 race at Miller Motorsports Park finished the 12-race 2010 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series season on September 11 with a finish we had seen many times this year. The No. 01 TELMEX/Chip Ganassi BMW Riley of Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas won the race and the 2010 GRAND-AM Championship. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola of team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn and teammate Nic Jönsson finished in tenth place in the two hour and 45-minute, 8-lap race in Tooele, Utah. Tracy started the car from the 11th position and had run as high as eighth before turning it over to teammate Nic on Lap 22, just before the 45-minute mark. Jönsson powered through the three cautions over the next two hours and was chipping away at another spot when he ran out of time in the race. DRIVER QUOTES: TRACY W. KROHN, Team Owner/Driver No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola: “Everything went fine in my stint. There was a whole lot of understeer in the car to start the race. Apparently it got a little bit better by the time Nic got in the car. But as the tire wore, we got a little bit more oversteer. There was definitely a tire factor today with the car. I can’t really point to anything specifically that I would change at this point in time. I just don’t think we quite got the set-up right.�?? NIC JONSSON, Driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola: “When I got n the car we had optimized the tire pressures and I had the car pretty well set-up for my part of race. We had been struggling with the set-up during the week. Eventually the Krohn team, along with David, the engineer, did a very good job to get the car set-up. We were running pretty consistent out there. I think when we had new tires and everything was good, we were as quick as the leaders were. Unfortunately our car seemed to have a little bit more tire degradation than the other guys. We started to fall back a little bit. Eventually we got about seven- or eight -tenths slower. We were already close to getting a lap down at the beginning and eventually we got a lap down. I think we had a Top Five car here today speed-wise. It was just that we were between the leader and those guys so we went a lap down and we never really got to fight for it. We are fast under braking and in the corners. It’s not much faster, or enough to get by somebody. When you want to get by somebody you always want to do it on a straightaway where it is easier. That’s kind of where we ended up. The Krohn team did a fantastic job this year. The Proto-Auto Lola has been a very reliable car for us and a safe car. Again, thanks to the guys. DAVID BROWN, Krohn Racing Team Manager and Engineer: “It was an uneventful race. Unfortunately we lost a lap in the first stint. However, our strategy to regain the lap worked, which was quite pleasing. It put us back on the lead lap, although only just ahead of the leaders. Because we were only just ahead of the leaders, we got lapped again so we ended up a lap down. Our strategy was, because we were 10th at the time, was to try and let the leaders race amongst themselves because we thought everybody would be in a similar fuel saving mode, same as us. It looked like they were not saving as much fuel as we were. We were hoping the rest of the race would go green in which our fuel saving would pay off because they would be in a position where they may have to stop to put an extra bit of fuel in to finish. Unfortunately, a very fortuitously timed yellow put them at ease on their fuel consumption. We were unable to capitalize on the fuel saving we’d been having earlier. The team has done a really good job this weekend. The pit stops were good. The car was very well driven, aggressively by both drivers and we finished 10th. We were trying to take ninth but we ran out of time with the last yellow. Our car was the best it’s been this weekend. Lap time ability was not so bad. We probably had a Top Four lap time car. But in order to really do that, we needed a little more top speed�?? Today’s Utah 250 race was the 2010 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series finale race.
