Here is a look at what is happening from coast-to-coast. Some are even crowning their 2010 champions! ASA SERIES ASA TRUCK SERIES (The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, NV) After a two month break, the popular west coast truck series is back in action on Saturday night with a 100-lap event. Joey Licata has a 60-point lead over Mike Herda in their 2010 standings. www.speedtruck.com ASA INTERSTATE RACING ASSOCIATION (Superior Speedway, Superior, WI & Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond, WI) It's a double header weekend for the fast 410 winged sprints. On Friday, they will visit Superior Speedway in Superior, WI for the Northern Nationals. On Saturday they will head south to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for the Jerry Richert Memorial. www.irasprints.org ASA MIDWEST SPORTSMAN TOUR (Dells Raceway Park, Wisconsin Dells, WI) Only two events remain on the 2010 schedule. The first of those two will take place this Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park, an ASA Member Track in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Chris Marek has an 11-point lead over Jay Kalbus in the standings. www.sportsman.asamidwesttour.com ASA NORTHWEST SPRINT CAR RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES (Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, WA) The season finale for the fast asphalt winged sprint cars is this Saturday night on the fast 5/8-mile oval. Matt Hein will be going for his third championship in a row. www.nsraracing.com ASA MEMBER TRACKS ACE SPEEDWAY (Elon, NC) Join us this Friday, September 10th, for the 9/11 Tribute at Ace Speedway. Champions will be crowned in the Dick Shirley Chevrolet Late Models and King's Auto Salvage Extremes divisions. There will be $2000 to win with additional purse for the Late Models. Other divisions in action this Friday night include the Southern Ground Pounders and Street Stocks. Servicemen, police and firemen with ID will be admitted to this week's race for just $5. The Dwarfs, Super Stocks, Sportsman, Mod 4's, Warriors, Micro Sprints, and a Trailer Race are all on the schedule. See you in 2011. www.norwayspeedway.com ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA) The Lucas Oil Modifieds will be the star attraction for the final Special Event of the season at the ASA Member Track adjacent to the National Orange Show, but the JAM Sportswear Late Models may provide the fireworks. Two weeks ago, for example, there were on-track incidents that triggered confrontations in the pits and had long-time racers and observers talking about the "good old days," when it sometimes took longer to stop the fights than it had to run the race. What no one knows for sure, though, is whether the recent turmoil has been due to the heat of the championship race or the heat, period, and whether it will continue Saturday night when the Late Models 50-lap main event will bring the busy schedule to a close. It will start with qualifying at about 5:15 p.m. and a "B" main that will determine the final qualifiers for the Lucas Oil Modifieds main event, the K&N Filters Topless 100. Trophy Dashes are scheduled to get under way at 7 p.m. and will be followed by 35-lap races for Stock Cars USA, Pick-A-Part Street Stocks and Pro 4s, the Modifieds feature and the JAM Sportswear Late Model contest. Spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. General admission tickets for this Special Event are priced at $15, but law enforcement personnel with valid identification will be admitted for $7. Admission is $13 for seniors (60 and older), students 11 to 18 and military personnel with valid identification and $65 for a Family pack, which includes admission for four plus a hot dog and small soft drink for each person. Children 10 and under are free. The theme of the night will be everything pink as SPS tried to raise money for the Susen G Komen Foundation. All the past and present drivers who attended the Larry Detjens Memorial Race signed a commemorative #25 hood; that will be raffled off with the money going to the Susen G Komen Foundation. There will also be special t-shirts for sale and other pink items! State Park Speedway crowns its 2010 chamions Thursday as well.
