Magic
Mile Not So Magical for Kimmel at DuQuoin

Brake Problem and Wreck Lead to a
15th-Place Finish on the Dirt

DuQuoin, ILL (September 7, 2010)- Dirt track racing is supposed
to be where Frank Kimmel shines. Normally an ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX
and Menards visit to
the dirt track means Kimmel is in victory lane or battling for a win. This season,
if it weren't for bad luck the
Ansell/Menards team would have no luck at all on the dirt. After a turn two wreck
while leading in
Springfield two weeks ago, Kimmel and team came to DuQuoin looking for revenge.
Unfortunately, bad luck bit the Ansell/Menards team yet again in Monday
afternoon's Southern Illinois 100 when a brake problem led to Kimmel's No. 44
getting in the wall, spinning and losing a lap. The team was able to get the lap
back and rebound to score a 15th-place
finish. The finish put Kimmel fourth in
points, 50 behind leaders Patrick Sheltra and Tom Hessert with four races
remaining in the 2010 season.

It was
another busy day for the stars of the ARCA Racing Series as the gates opened
for the Southern Illinois 100 at 5:30 a.m. With a one-hour practice session, qualifying
and the drop of the green
flag all before 1:00 p.m., the teams kept busy working on and preparing their
machines all morning.

After
posting the sixth-fastest time in practice and qualifying eighth, the
Ansell/Menards team had a lot of confidence in their No. 44 Ford Fusion. When the
green flag dropped for the start of
the Southern Illinois 100, Kimmel wasted no time in proving the strength of his
Ford. It took only 15 laps for him to
move his Ansell/Menards Ford into the top-five.

When the
yellow flag came out on lap 19, Kimmel relinquished his top-five position to
come down pit road and top his car off on fuel. Returning to the track in 22ndposition,
Kimmel took the
restart on lap 22. It was during this
green-flag run that the day turned upside down for the Ansell/Menards
team.

It took
only three laps for Kimmel to bring his Ford up nine positions to 13th,
but on lap 26 as he was going into turns one and two the brake pedal went to
the floor and the No. 44 hit the wall hard. Kimmel received damage to the right
side and rear of his Ford Fusion,
but was still able to continue on. With
a smoking right rear tire and no brakes, Kimmel continued on in green-flag
conditions, but only three laps later he spun out, losing a lap and bringing
out the yellow flag.

Kimmel
brought his Ansell/Menards Ford to the attention of his team on lap 30, and
they quickly got to work trying to repair the damage and changing tires. While stopped
on pit road, Kimmel reported
that he smelled brake fluid and that he couldn't stop. When he pushed on the
brake pedal it went to the floor.

When the
field restarted on lap 34, Kimmel was running 24thone lap down to
the leaders. Just trying to hang on to
his damaged Ansell/Menards Ford Kimmel maintained position throughout the next
34 laps until he finally earned the lucky dog award during a lap 68
caution. The lucky dog allowed Kimmel to
get back on the lead lap.

For the final
34 laps Kimmel held on to his Ford Fusion, still fighting the handling of his
machine while having no brakes. He was
able to move forward to the 15thposition when the checkered flag
waved on lap 100.

Kimmel
will look to rebound at the place where he scored his last victory, Toledo Speedway,
on Sunday, September 12 in the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200. The green flag will
drop at 1:00 p.m. EST
with live
timing and scoring and live audio coverage provided by ARCA Nation and the ARCA
Racing Network at ARCARacing.com. BAS Racing Network (radio) and BCSN (TV) will
also host live race coverage.
