Roller Coaster Day in Indianapolis Places Line Fifth

Event: 56th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
Location: O’Reilly Raceway Park, Indianapolis, IN
Day/Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010

In two of his first three qualifying attempts at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, Jason Line’s Summit Racing Pontiac was among the best in the 31-car Pro Stock field. After opening with the third-quickest time on Friday, he came back on his second attempt to match the quickest time of the session at 6.587-seconds, placing him second on the basis of a top speed tie-breaker. However after his third attempt was cut short by tire shake, mirroring the performance of his teammate Greg Anderson in that session, the 2006 champion looked to find some consistency during his final two attempts on Sunday.

“My Summit Racing Pontiac made a good run in the first session, so we had high hopes for the evening run,?? said Line. “Unfortunately, we didn’t end up so well, although we are still fifth going into Sunday. It’s not that we’re bad, it’s just that we know we’re capable of running better than we have so far. We’re also still struggling to get Greg’s (teammate Anderson) car running better. Even though he moved up to eighth, he’s only made it down the track once, which is unacceptable.

“The good news is that we’re at the U.S. Nationals, and we still have two more qualifying attempts tomorrow. I believe the weather is going to be fairly close to what we had today, so hopefully we’ll have another shot at moving up in the early session. It won’t be easy and we certainly have some work to do, but I believe we should be able to get this ship turned around tomorrow.??
