Škoda Superb Comes with a New Engine
MLADÁ BOLESLAV, CZECH REPUBLIC – September 3, 2010: The portfolio of diesel engines available with the Superb is going to be extended with the four-cylinder unit that has already proved its calibre in the Octavia. Considering its high power and maximum torque of 250Nm at 1,500-2,500 revs/min-1, this extremely responsive unit is an ideal choice for both city and motorway driving. Based on the state-of-the-art common rail technology, the engine will impress consumers with its smooth performance and low consumption. The engine is going to be available with a five-speed manual transmission.
This modern unit follows the downsizing trend, i.e., a lower volume offering high power, thus combining economical operation and environmental friendliness with impressive driving properties. With a fantastic combined consumption of 5.0 l/100 km, the Superb 1.6 TDI CR meets the EU5 standard and is the most economical diesel model of the Superb line. Furthermore - thanks to its low CO2 emission levels (130 g/km – combined) - it substantially helps in reducing Škoda vehicles' emission average.
“We are really proud of the 1.6 TDI CR, and it wraps up our portfolio of direct-injection engines - the Superb line now offers the common rail technology with all of its diesel engines. The 1.6 TDI CR is an ideal combination of state-of-the-art technologies, economical operation and environmental friendliness. It is an advanced engine that offers excellent driving properties under any circumstances“, said Eckhard Scholz, Škoda Auto BOD Member responsible for technological development.
