CATTANACH CONTINUES TITLE RUN ON
SATURDAY AT IRWINDALE
Â
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (August 31, 2010) – 25 year-old Kyle
Cattanach will look to continue his impressive 2010 season in the SRL SPEARS
Southwest Tour as the series returns to TOYOTA Speedway in Irwindale, Calif. on
Saturday night for the NTS, Inc. 100.
Â
Driving the Bammer Motorsports #88 Superior Crankshaft Chevrolet,
Cattanach finished fifth when the series visited TOYOTA Speedway on July
17. With the fifth place run, Cattanach
is fourth in the series standings, just 88 points out of first.
Â
Throughout the season Cattanach the Redding, Calif. driver has
consistently been a front-runner. After
opening the season with a ninth place finish at Roseville, Cattanach added a
sixth place run at Orange Show, an 11th place finish at Las Vegas, ninth at Stockton, and eighth at Madera.Â
Â
He has also completed every lap of competition so far, putting him
in contention for a shot at the championship.Â
As the series begins to visit tracks for the second time in the season,
Cattanach will look to improve on his finishes from the first half of the year.
Â
With crew chief Mark Lundgreen at the helm, the entire SP Racing
program has seen a turnaround in overall performance. Cattanach qualified second and ran as high as
third at TOYOTA Speedway in July, and should be a contender for the win this
weekend.
Â
“Kyle is continuing to improve and learn the tracks and we feel he
is peaking at the right time,?? Motorsports Marketing Manager Marty Melo
said. “I feel like this weekend is a
race that we can win, and I am excited to see the results.??
Â
A busy weekend of activity will see Cattanach practice on Friday
night before a full day of practice, qualifying, and racing on Saturday night.
