SYDNEY – Aug 31, 2010: Kia Motors Australia has announced that Mr Tony Barlow will join the company as Chief Operating Officer on September 1.

Mr Barlow has been involved in the automotive industry for more than two decades, with extensive senior management experience both in Australia and overseas.

“I could not be more pleased at the opportunity to join a progressive company like Kia at a time when the old clichés about cheap and cheerful Korean cars are being swept aside,” Mr Barlow said.

“The latest cars from this exciting company are not only cutting edge for styling and engineering, but have retained that magical ingredient of great value as well.

“I am genuinely excited about the journey ahead.”

Mr Barlow spent 17 years with Toyota Australia in roles ranging from National Dealer Placement Manager through Corporate Strategy Manager to General Manager Export and Distribution.

In 2003 Mr Barlow joined Al Futtaim Motors, the United Arab Emirates’ largest vehicle distributor, as Senior General Manager for Sales and Marketing.

Two years ago he joined one of Nissan’s regional headquarters in the Middle East as Director for Sales and Marketing, the role he leaves to return to Australia and join Kia Motors.

“We are delighted to have a man of Tony’s experience and undoubted ability joining us for the exciting times ahead,” KMAu President and CEO Mr MK Kim said. “Tony’s qualities will be an excellent addition to the strong and dedicated Kia team we have built over the past couple of years.”
