TOUGH TRACK, TOUGH FIGHT BY JaguarRSR WHO TAKES HOME A TOP TEN FINISH AT MOSPORT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 29, 2010) - Another good effort was put forth
by JaguarRSR this weekend which resulted in their third top-ten finish of the year
in today's Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport - Round 8 of the American
Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.
Paul Gentilozzi took the green flag this afternoon behind the wheel of the #75 JaguarRSR
XKR GT starting from the ninth spot, which marked the XKR's best starting position
to date. "The first stint we had a tire leak and it had dropped the pressure of
the left rear," said Gentilozzi. "We knew something was wrong with the car, but
until we spun, it really wasn't evident. We are not sure why this happened, it could
have been from debris early - hard to say. Then the second stint, after we finally
realized what the issue was in the rear, I was able to settle down and just drove
the car to finish the stint. But we got a couple laps down. In the spin, I just
couldn't get the car turned around and we lost two laps there."
Gentilozzi ran for 1 hour and 13 minutes of scheduled 2 hour and 45 minute race
before Marc Goossens took over the wheel with the car in the tenth spot. "My run
was ok," Goossens added. "The XKR ran fine for me, it stayed constant and mechanically
everything was perfect. I just tried to have my own consistent run, bring it home
in one piece, and do as good of a job as possible. One thing is for sure, we are
showing some speed and have proved numerous times that we are reliable, so we will
keep working hard on performance and hope to have a better car for Petit."
At 5:23 pm a red flag was thrown due to a massive crash on the back straight which
caused a barrier to fail - the decision was made to end the race with the cars in
their current positions instead of asking fans to remain for another 29 minutes
of racing. The time to repair that damage was estimated to be in excess of three
hours. At 6:10 pm, a final lap by all cars in the field was made with the pace
car in the lead and they took the checkered flag in that fashion.
Goossens successfully brought the Jaguar race home tenth in the GT class, and posted
the XKR's fastest race lap with a time of 1:20.557, on Lap 71.
The team will have a few weeks off before the big finale of the 2010 American Le
Mans Series at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, September 29 - October 2 - the
13th annual Petit Le Mans, a 1,000-mile / 10-hour endurance classic.
