West Lebanon, NY: Benjamin Moore Paints and Pepsi fueled another hot August night of racing at the famed ½ high banked oval nestled along side State Route 20 in Upstate New York. The Valley of Speed came to life with another full night of racing action.

The first up on the schedule, the 30 lap Big Block Modified feature event took to the mighty high banks with the #39 of Ryan Larkin and the #43 of Keith Flach at the head of the class. The caution flew on lap 3 for the #87 of Neil Stratton as he slowed with mechanical issues.

On the green, Larkin took off again out front with Lorne Browe on his heels. As they headed down the front stretch the two cars made contact as the #14 drifted up the speedway into Larkin. That would later come into play as just 2 laps later, Browe’s car slowed with mechanical issues resulting from the contact.

Larkin was still at the point, but the heat was coming as deep in the field, Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A. was on the charge. J.R. Heffner made his way into the top 3 on lap 11 with 2nd place finisher Andy Bachetti hot his heels again.

As the handle went away on the #39, the #74 was getting stronger and stronger. By lap 18 on the Kokosa Oil Lap Counter, Heffner was out front and pulling away. And just like a case of De Ja Vu, Brett Hearn’s #20H had got past Bachetti, and started to hound Heffner for the top spot.

But the last 8 circuits was not enough for Hearn to rally past Heffner. As J.R. Heffner gets his 3rd win of 2010. Hearn settled for 2nd with Larkin crossing the line 3rd, followed by Keith Flach and Donnie Corellis to round out the top 5.

The LV Sportsman took to the speedway for their 20 lap feature event. Out front early was the #21 of Ryan Darcy with the #83 of Chad Pierce right on his rear deck looking for a good lane to pass. Pierce finally made his move on lap 8 as Darcy’s car began to fade.

Pierce took charge of the front of the field and began to pull away. Kyle Armstrong made a hard charge through the field to get to 2nd by lap 12, but seems to have used all his stuff to get there. By the time the #11A got to Pierce, there was nothing left to make a hard charge on the #83.

Even after a small snafu on the scales, Chad Pierce finally breaks through and scores his first career Sportsman feature win. Armstrong crossed the line 2nd, followed by Kolby Schroder, Kim Herrick, and Steve Meilleur.

The Pro Stock 20 lap feature offered up another door to door battle for the win. At the beginning, the #78 of Paul LaRochelle took to the head of the class with the #243 of Victor Hopkins hounding his rear bumper. The battle was on for the reaming laps with Hopkins trying to find a way around the #78.

The heat began to build as the #24 of Robbie Speed joined the fray up front. The battle was back and forth for a hand full of laps as Speed powered under Hopkins and began to dog the #78. LaRochelle took up the whole track to keep the competition at bay.

But that couldn’t keep the power of the #24 back as Speed got a run with 2 laps to go. The leaders then made contact again in turn one, slowing the two enough to allow the #243 of Hopkins to power on by. Hopkins went on to take the checkers for his 2nd career Pro Stock win while the #24 and #78 were still going at it in turn 4.

After the two took each other out of competition, Jon Routhier snuck by to finish 2nd, followed by Jason Casey, Rob Yetman, and Chuck Towslee to round out the top 5.

In the Pure Stocks, Lloyd Tomlin scores the win in Pure Stock #1, Pure Stock #2 was captured by Todd Lane, and James Hatch powered on to score Pure Stock #3.
Steven Loomis won the Dual Cam 4 cylinder event with Don Curley taking the Single Cam division.
