Performance Karting Is Only Industry Trade Association Launches an Extreme Makeover

Las Vegas, August 24, 2010: With more than 37 years of history behind it, the Kart Industry Council is launching an extreme makeover to revitalize and refocus the association into becoming the single voice for the entire performance karting trade community.

From the new bright and dynamic logo to the broader focus of the performance karting marketplace, the newly energized KIC is preparing to take on the elements of its mission to bring critical tools and resources together for the industry businesses and for-profit organizations as well as to expand consumer awareness of karting as an exciting sport for all levels of enthusiasts and families.

A number of major adjustments and initiatives are being implemented in the restructuring. The first is the expansion of the association s recognition of a broader spectrum of grassroots motorsports. The new KIC will not only embrace the traditional outdoor sprint (asphalt and dirt) communities along with the more exotic road race and Superkarts classes, but now will include the indoor karting community, Jr. dragsters and the recreational performance karting markets.

To support this broadening of the market coverage, the new KIC will be expanded to include new director positions that will add a representative voice for these new business channels.

A number of the key objectives for this expanded board include the enhancement of industry market research; building industry educational tools and bringing cross channel networking opportunities to the membership.

Another major initiative for the new KIC is to launch an extensive consumer marketing campaign that promotes karting to motorsports and active lifestyle enthusiasts throughout the country. This media campaign will drive individuals and families outside of the traditional motorsport media sources to experience karting for the first time through campaign partners and association members.

The membership program has been expanded to include these new markets and as before, the annual dues are tax deductable. Each of the member levels will include access to a host of industry surveys, research white papers and educational resources. To add to the member s value there will be an emphasis on Business2Business networking.

The new KIC re-launch is hitting the ground running with the publication of the first of many white papers and an online survey regarding education interests. The paper is titled, Understanding The Advantages Of Dealing In Foreign Currency For Potential Increased Margins With Product Imports. The survey is being promoted to manufacturers, importers, distributors, dealers, facility management and related associate businesses to help better understand industry educational interests.

Another aspect of the Makeover will be the revising of the association website which will have more information about the changes as well as a new secure member section where members will be able to access the survey results, extensive databases and educational resources. A part of the website makeover will be the inclusion of KIC social networking such as our new Twitter account. Members can now follow along at KartIndCouncil. The site will also be a constant resource for business related news.

According to KIC association president Peter Rosati, We are very excited about this new energy and direction for KIC. The feedback we have been collecting from a wide scope of everyone from manufacturers to track management has been the need to fill the void of a unified voice that represents and promotes karting to the public as well as the need to elevate the professional business skills within the industry.

Rosati added, Over the next six months, KIC will move rapidly to implement a number of high profile programs and we intend to bring the association front and center within the industry. I am looking forward to many new members joining us to build a very strong voice for the industry.
