Dunn Says Coughlin The Best Driver In Drag Racing

DELAWARE, August 24, 2010: ESPN2 color analyst Mike Dunn says five-time world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. is the best active driver in drag racing. Dunn revealed his list on a recent broadcast and explained why he choose Coughlin ahead of Tony Schumacher, John Force, Tony Pedregon, and Larry Dixon, the other drivers he ranked 2-5, respectively.

"The criteria was to take the car out of the equation and just rate pure driving ability," said Dunn, a former nitro driver. "The biggest reason Jeg was selected No. 1 is what I feel is his ability to win in everything he drives. He's the only driver out there to have won national events in five different classes. I truly believe if he decided to drive a fuel car tomorrow that after his licensing runs, he would be able to go out and win right away."

Dunn also picked five former drivers and listed them in order from Pat Austin, Don "the Snake" Prudhomme, Bob Glidden, Danny Ongais, and James Warren.
