The American Corn Growers Association’s has awarded David with its "Truth in Agricultural Journalism Award" for his work in uncovering the the misconceptions and wrong information about ethanol production and use, and then explaining the true facts and ethanol's many benefits.
The Ohlone program will teach people how to produce clean renewable alcohol fuel and related co-products from surplus crops and waste stream resources for less than $1.00 a gallon.
“Ohlone College is focused on providing forward-looking curriculum and options for workforce innovation attendees that lead directly to new careers in “green” growth industries,” said Gale Carli, Dean of Health Sciences and Environmental Studies at Ohlone College. “We are focused on providing our students and community with the knowledge and means to improve our local and regional economic outlook. David Blume’s workshop delivers proven systems based on agriculture science that will enhance and optimize food and fuel source production as well as teach attendees how they can participate in the sustainable energy movement.”
The workshop is open to the public and presents an ideal launch pad for green business entrepreneurs, CSA/CSF cooperatives, eco-farmers, and people everywhere who are interested in developing their own energy independence and taking control of their economic future. “In the last few months we have been witnessing unmistakable warnings about the inherent dangers in extracting and using Oil ranging from BP’s Gulf cataclysm and the Niger Delta spew in Africa to ruptured pipelines in China and in the Great Lakes,” said David Blume, executive director for IIEA. “The message can’t be clearer. It is our energy future and our choice. Alcohol fuel gives us safe and affordable liquid solar energy that can power our energy needs, including home heating and cooking as well as transportation and our workshops teach people how they can make fuel from a wide range of sources for far less than the price of gas. We hope people will make the choice to join us at Ohlone College the weekend of August 27.”
