John Frana - TORC Bark River II Race Report
Frana Keeps AWD Up Front - Wins
Round 9 @ Bark River II
Runner-Up
in Round 10
Loves Park,
IL (August 17, 2010) - After surviving the tight and technical stadium style
track at Oshkosh, John Frana was glad to get back to Bark River, the scene of
his first career win back in July. From the first practice session of the
weekend, TORC insiders knew the Frana Vehicles BrandName Sway-A-Way FK Rods
BFGoodrich Super Buggy would be tough to beat.
The high
flying Monster Energy Hill and the fast sweeping turns of Bark River definitely
gave the #907 Super Buggy an advantage over its competitors. In years past,
John Frana has had close brushes with success, but the development of the
unique chassis and drive train seemed to slow the team's success.
During the
past off-season, John and his team went to work on a redesign of certain
components of the drive train. The additional engineering that went into the Super
Buggy made the Frana Vehicles Super Buggy a true contender. The team's success
started with a fourth place finish at Round 1 in Antigo. From that moment on,
the TORC Super Buggy competitors took notice of the world's only all-wheel
drive Super Buggy.
This is
certainly true at the 1.7 mile all-natural terrain layout in Bark River,
Michigan as the #907 Super Buggy went flag to flag to take the win during Round
9. In fact, before John cut back his race pace, the Honda powered AWD machine
had a ten second lead just before the mandatory yellow.
Early the
next day, it looked like the Frana Vehicles Super Buggy would run away from the
rest of the competition, but the #907 Super Buggy was issued a stop and go
penalty for an aggressive pass that got John the lead. After serving the
penalty, John was at the back of the field. Undaunted and always up to the
challenge, John began working his way through the field, all the way up to
second place, when the checkered flag was waved. Another podium finish for John
Frana.
"This
weekend was just incredible," noted John Frana. "The win yesterday really
boosted my confidence. Today I got a little aggressive on my pass of Scott (Schwalbe)
and it cost me. Fortunately, neither buggy was hurt from the contact. Scott's a
good friend of mine and we talked and everything is good. We charged back, but
just ran out of laps to challenge for the win. Again, I want to thank my family
and friends that have supported this effort year in and year out. Our success
at the track is dedicated to them."
The next race
in the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL for John Frana is Wednesday,
August 25 and Thursday, August 26 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois.

About the Frana Vehicles
AWD Super Buggy
Frana's buggy represents a new era in open wheel off-road race vehicle design.
In the spirit of the wide open Super Buggy rules (often referred to as the
Formula One of off road racing), Frana designed and built this radically
different tube frame buggy, utilizing a mid-engine mounted Honda 1600cc engine,
delivering the power through a five speed sequential shifted transmission
designed and built by Loves Park, Illinois based Frana Vehicles
franavehicles.com. Many of the chassis components, including the control
arms, spindles, wheel hubs, bumpers, tie rod ends, shocks, and brake components
are interchangeable front to back, left to right. Virtually the entire
suspension, frame and running gear was designed and built by Frana, with custom
CV joints and drive shafts manufactured by RCV Performance Products www.rcvperformance.com
