Springfield, IL August 16, 2009- The seventeenth running of the Sportsman
Nationals joins the ARCA RE/MAX-Menard's Series on August 22 at the Illinois
State Fair with around 30 of the Central Illinois Sportsman stock cars
slated for a 20-mile tilt on the 'World's Fastest Mile Dirt Track".
Springfield's Dennis Vandermeersch claimed his fourth win last year and is
the only driver to post back to back wins twice and those came ten years
apart!  Vandermeersch, plus former winners Wes O'Dell of Springfield, Jeff
Leka of Buffalo, Tim Dick of Monticello and Steve Sheppard Jr. of New Berlin
are among the expected entrants for the seventeenth Sportsman clash. The
Sportsman Nationals 20-mile main event will be held immediately prior to the
48th Allen Crowe 100.
