HAGAN QUALIFIES NO. 2 IN BRAINERD
BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 14, 2010) - Matt Hagan placed the DieHard Dodge
Charger Funny Car in the No. 2 spot in qualifying for the 29th annual NHRA
Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway, posting a 4.122-second elapsed
time at 290.69 mph in today's second session.
Only one round was held on Friday due to rain. That run was aborted because
of a mechanical problem, and today's final session produced a 4.678/174.73,
in which the engine suffered damage. Hagan faces Dale Creasy in the opening
round of eliminations on Sunday.
"It's great to be second," said Hagan, third in class points in the 2010
NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. The "regular" season ends here in
Brainerd as the Countdown to 1 playoffs kick in for the top 10 in points in
the final six races. "I think we have a good baseline to work off of
tomorrow, and we have Dale Creasy in the first round. I ran with Dale as my
teammate when I was racing in IHRA. I know he'll be gunning for us, so we'll
have to get up and gun for him. We'll go into tomorrow with a new engine in
the DieHard Dodge, get everything rebuilt and fixed up, and see what we
got."
