Sean Corr Back To Winning Ways At Orange County

Sean Corr Back To Winning Ways At Orange County

“Growing Stock Car Driver Having Fun In The Mud??

GOSHEN, New York (August 12, 2010) - - Sean Corr may be a relatively new
face on the ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards tour
but Corr’s background on the dirt continues to gain momentum and popularity
as the Goshen, New York native left his competition literally in the dust
last weekend at Orange County Fair Speedway (OCFS) in Middletown, New York.
Returning to his racing roots after a successful run in the Weis Markets
125 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in the ARCA Racing Series, Corr returned to the
cockpit of the No. 8 The Trans Group / Northeast Fabricators / Nesco Bus
and Truck Sales / Bus Parts Warehouse Pontiac Grand Prix thirsty for victory.

In the first heat race of the night, Corr started seventh and methodically
worked his way up into the fifth position. However, his progression did
not come without its challenges. Near the end of the dash, the right front
tire began to deflate from a piece of debris on the racetrack. Thankful for
the finish and not a destroyed racecar, His effort was strong enough to
advance him to the 15-lap feature.
After consulting with crew chief Anthony Citro, the duo felt like they had
a solid game plan that would catapult No. 8 The Trans Group / NorthEast
Fabricators / Nesco Bus and Truck Sales / Bus Parts Warehouse Pontiac Grand
Prix to the front. At the start of the feature presented by GoldenArea
Furniture, Advance Commercial Mowers and Accord Speedway, Corr in the field of
16 machines began his march towards the leaders from his ninth place
starting position.
As the laps quickly ticked away, Corr’s charge to the front became more
intense. By lap five, the D.I.R.T. Pro Stock driver began haunting the
leaders before maneuvering around the leader on the high side by lap seven. In
the final eight circuits of the feature, Corr was able to increase his margin
and easily take the checkered flag for the win.
It was the second win for the Empire Motorsports team on the dirt this
season. His previous win at Orange County came on Independence weekend on
Saturday, July 3.
“I couldn’t be more thankful,?? said a jubilant Corr. “The car was a
handful in the heat because of the tire. It became so pushy and snappy loose
that I was just happy to finish where we did. When we able to pin-point our
problem, I knew that despite the adversity was ahead of us, we had a good
enough car to win. Most of the season our car has been super fast on the
bottom grove but for some reason during this feature our car hooked up on the
top side. Sometimes, that can be risky but it paid off for the Empire team
and fortunately, the adversity we were worried about was all for nothing as
we celebrated in victory lane.??
He added, “I can’t thank Anthony (Citro), the entire Empire Motorsports
team and our sponsors who help get us to the track on a weekly basis.
Winning is the best medicine in the world. At that moment, it makes everything
right in the world and I’m grateful to everyone who makes it possible for us
to win.??
Away from the slipping and sliding on the dirt, the 26-year old and his
Empire Motorsports entourage have been running a limited schedule in the ARCA
Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards. This season, he has
competed in six events with a best finish of 12th in June at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway
in the Messina Animal Wildlife Stopper 200 after starting 18th. In his most
recent effort also at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last month, Corr maneuvered his
No. 82 Empire Racing LLC Ford Fusion to a career-best eighth place
qualifying run before finishing 16th. Overall, he has seven top-20 finishes in his
10 ARS starts. Looking ahead, the team is hopeful to run the ARCA Kansas
Lottery 150 at Kansas Speedway on September 30.
