Bodine Brings Experience To Darlington Raceway

DARLINGTON, Aug. 11, 2010: It is no secret that track time at Darlington Raceway is an invaluable asset for a driver preparing to take on the toughest track on the NASCAR circuit. It is also no secret that this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series field comes into Darlington with relatively little experience. In fact, only a handful of drivers have previously run at Darlington in the truck series including series point leader Todd Bodine.
Said Bodine, “Every corner is different. It’s fast, it’s aggressive, it’s Darlington — I love it.”
While Bodine has only one start in the truck series at Darlington, he has plenty of experience in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series to be considered a Darlington veteran.
Bodine, who has a combined total of 38 starts at Darlington in NASCAR’s three National Series, has recorded 16 top-10 and nine top-five finishes including one win in the 2003 Nationwide event at the track “Too Tough To Tame.” While Bodine knows that experience gives him a leg up, he also knows that Darlington is still Darlington.
“There’s never a corner, a straightaway, not a single moment when you are under green that you can forget about the race track,” he said. “You race it every lap and you are racing the 35 trucks around you. It takes a lot of patience and at the same time, you’ve really got to get after it.”
“In my opinion, Todd is definitely a guy to watch for this weekend,” said Darlington Raceway President, Chris Browning. “He has a lot of experience here and has a great shot to set the pace for other guys to follow in practice and qualifying.”
