JOHNSTON AND KELLEY MAKE IT A ONE-TWO FINISH FOR POSITION ONE MOTORSPORTS

 "P1 Engines powered Maddox drivers steal the show yet again"

 

August 9, 2010 - Position One Motorsports drivers Nick Johnston and Bobby
Kelley lived up their expectations this past weekend at the International
Karting Federation (IKF) Region 7 event held at the Santa Maria Kart Track
in Southern California. The duo of drivers claimed the top two positions in
all official event action including qualifying, prefinal and the final
throughout the event weekend.

 

With the event being hosted by the Santa Maria Karting Association, Johnston
and Kelley would need to be on their game as RLV Inc. owner Art Verlengiere
announced earlier in the week that he would pay $1000.00 to any driver who
could dethrone the pair from their recent string of victories. With the
"Bounty" being put on the pilots for the remaining three IKF Region 7
events, multiple challenges were made on the pair but to no avail.

 

"Both Nick and Bobby have been on fire lately," expressed Position One
Motorsports owner Luis Martinez. "They have utilized their equipment to the
fullest and taken advantage of all the opportunities that have presented
themselves. Most races usually come down to these two drivers and they
always race each other clean and battle hard for the win. Seeing the Maddox
chassis dominate the TaG class is something that we have been looking
forward to for quite some time and we are looking forward to continuing the
success."

 

Johnston would get the best of the pair in qualifying as he managed to just
nip his teammate and rival Kelley for the pole position. Kelley would
rebound in the prefinal though to take the checkered flag and the pole
position for the main event. From the action in both qualifying and the
prefinal, the run for the top step of the podium would be a good one as the
duo would look to fight for the win as well as hold off the advances of
fellow competitors looking to out battle them and take the $1000.00 of cash
that sat at the podium.  

 

The main event was nothing but excitement from the time the green flag flew
until the end of the final lap as Kelley and Johnston went head to head for
the win. Johnston led early as his teammate would be glued to his bumper for
the first half of the main event. Just past the halfway mark, Kelley looked
to mount an attack for the lead and began stalking his closest competitor
corner after corner. The pair of drivers drew away from the field and made
it their own race as fans and fellow racers lined the fences to watch the
battle ensue.

 

With two laps remaining, Kelley made a bid for the lead in the fourth corner
only to have Johnston take it back the very next corner. Driving a defensive
line for the final circuit, Johnston would take home the race win well
Kelley would cross the line in the second spot making it another Position
One Motorsports one-two finish.

 

Position One Motorsports drivers Nick Johnston and Bobby Kelley will both
attend the next IKF Region 7 event and look to keep their streak alive. The
"bounty" on the pair may go up, stay tuned..

 

The next on track action for Position One Motorsports will be the Pro Kart
Challenge North/South Shootout on August 13 - 14th. The event will take
place at the Santa Maria Kart Track.
