(August 09, 2010)-Tim George Jr. and the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing team headed to Berlin Raceway (Mich.) for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards event on Saturday, August 7, looking to continue his recent short-track success. Despite a late-race incident, George maneuvered his damaged Chevrolet to a sixteenth-place finish. The Richard Childress Racing's Development driver topped the 33 drivers participating in the ARCA Racing Series lone practice session at Berlin Raceway on Saturday afternoon with a 17.422 second/103.318-mph lap around 0.4375-mile Marne, Michigan-based short-track. "This is the first time I have 'won' practice, so it is real cool to have the RCR Development Chevrolet on top of the leader board," said George after the practice session."We were pretty good on old tires for most of practice and were able to keep up with the guys that got in an early lap. Then when we put the No.31 in qualifying trim we just sailed it up to the top of the sheet and that was very good. The run gave us the boost of confidence I think we needed. The guys have been working very hard and our short-track package is phenomenal." Tim George Jr. prepared for the afternoon Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell session with the pole award in his sights. In qualifying, the New York, N.Y. native piloted his No. 31 RCR Development Chevrolet to the seventeenth-fastest time (17.589 sec./102.339 mph) after admitting that he overdrove the car looking for his first career pole. George started the ARCA 200 mid-pack, within the top-20, from the outside of row nine. In addition to the uniqueness of the shortest track on the ARCA Racing schedule, George was challenged by track position. With the track less than 0.5-miles in length, it did not give the 29-year old much liberty to maneuver his way through the 31-car field. Unfortunately, the same conditions also involved him in a late-race single car incident on lap 175. After repairs to the No.31 RCR Development under caution, George returned to the track in 16th position. With rear body damage to the No.31 machine, George had to drive hard just to keep the car between the walls. The day resulted in a disappointing 16th-place finish after completing 194 of the 200 laps in the event.
