Maloof Money Cup Day One: Results Are In

COSTA MESA, Calif.--The 2010 Maloof Money Cup OC contest, presented by Vans, kicked off Friday at the OC Fair & Event Center with amazing action in the Carl’s Jr. Pro Vert prelims, World Industries Am Street Prelims, and the VOLCOM Street Pro prelims. The best skateboarders in the world were pushed to their personal limits trying to qualify for this weekend’s finals and to claim their share of the $450,000 cash and prize purse.

VOLCOM STREET PRO PRELIMS

Friday night, 24 of the world’s best pro skaters went head-to-head in the qualifiers. Six heats of skaters competed in 5-minute jams on the Geoff Rowley-designed street course. The top six skaters from tonight will join the top six from Saturday’s second round of prelims in the Sunday finals:

CARL'S JR® U.S. MEN'S PRO VERT PRELIMINARIES:

Friday’s Carl’s Jr. U.S. Men’s Pro Vert Preliminaries featured an exciting new format that tested skaters’ abilities not only on a unique vert ramp with a giant pyramid hip in the middle, but also featured a rail jam on the Mini Mega Ramp. Each skater sessioned the two different sections of the ramp and the top nine skaters qualified for Saturday’s finals, where the winner will take home $75,000, the biggest first place cash prize in vert skateboarding. The nine skaters advancing to Saturday’s finals are:
