Pacific Mobile/Biosign car qualifies second at Watkins Glen
AIM Autosport enthusiastic and confident for tomorrow’s race

Watkins Glen, NY (August 6, 2010) — AIM Autosport’s Pacific Mobile/Biosign car will start second in tomorrow’s Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen International. Driver, Mark Wilkins, posted a time of 1m 5.642s at 134.365 mph early in a late-afternoon qualifying session before it was black flagged and subsequently ended owing to a collision that had left debris scattered across the track.

When the qualifying session was cut short, running just six of its allotted 15 minutes, Mark reported that the car was just coming into its qualifying sweet spot. Pole position was ultimately taken by Memo Rojas with whom Mark had been trading fast laps since the session began, but Mark liked his odds of being able to take pole position had the session resumed and was thrilled with the car’s performance.

“The car was fast,” he said. “It’s been fast all day and it’s going to be fast tomorrow.”

Having taken pole and won here in 2008, AIM Autosport clearly understands how to make a car go fast on this track. Mark and co-driver, Burt Frisselle, both set quick practice times using the car as it was set-up back at the team’s shop just four hours down the road in Woodbridge, Ont.

“We unloaded a very quick car,” said Burt. “We made some changes during practice this morning and found a little more speed, and we think we can make the car even faster so we’re making some more changes before the race.

“Mark did really well to qualify on the front row,” Burt continued, “And I think we have a great shot at winning tomorrow.”

“It’s great to be on the front row,” added Mark, who will start tomorrow’s race. “I’ve always really liked this track and I plan to finish my stint with the car in good position. I’m confident that if I can do that, Burt can bring to car home to a great result.”

The Crown Royal 200 is the tenth of twelve rounds in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. The two-hour race is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm. Live coverage will be provided by SPEED TV and MRN Radio.
