Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder Championship Night Results

                                              

HAMPTON, Ga. (August 5, 2010) - Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday
Thunder concluded its 10-week season of racing and crowned its summer
series champions. Except for veteran Skip Nichols, all other classes
featured first time championship winners. 

 

Brian Weimer was the pole sitter for the Masters feature. At the halfway
point, Scott Moseley made a pass coming off turn four for the lead.
Moseley went on to log his first win of the year. Skip Nichols collected
his fifth-career Masters championship and tied Doug Stevens with five
Thursday Thunder championship titles. 

 

Justin Thomas took the green flag to set off the Young Lions feature.
Points leader Sean Rayhall was out front before the first lap was
completed. Rayhall dominated the race and led every lap. Rayhall posted
his seventh win of the 10-week series and picked up his first Thursday
Thunder championship. 

 

 The Marco's Pizza Bandits kicked off with Clayton Weatherman out front.
Weatherman led all circuits to score his fourth win in four starts in
the 2010 Thursday Thunder season. Alex Coffey was crowned the Marco's
Pizza Bandits champion. 

 

Luke Behnke paced the field to the start for the Dixie Home Crafters
Semi-Pro feature. The race began with Behnke six points behind co-points
leaders William Plemmons III and Jake Armstrong. Behnke led all laps and
earned his first win of the season. Plemmons secured the championship
title by three points with his second-place finish. 

 

The Roadsters feature started with Adam Gay as the leader. But by the
second lap, the field was three-wide at the flag with points leader
Brian Meredith becoming the point man. Meredith was the victor and
claimed his first career Thursday Thunder championship.

 

Points leader John Holleman paced the filed the start for the Morley
Company Outlaws feature.  Holleman shut down the rest of the field by
leading all laps, grabbing his seventh win of the summer and captured
the championship title. 

 

The OCP Angus Farms Pro feature began with Doug Stevens on the pole. On
the fourth lap, points leader Donald McIntosh wrestled his way to the
front. Taylor Hull made his move for the top spot on lap 13. Two laps
later, it was a three-car battle for the lead between Hull, Stevens and
McIntosh. Stevens spun on his own on lap 17 bringing out the caution.
Hull was out front for the restart and seized the win two laps later and
McIntosh scored his first Thursday Thunder championship.
