POSITIVE MOMENTUM FOR JaguarRSR AS TEAM HEADS TO MID-OHIO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EAST LANSING, Michigan (August 5, 2010) - JaguarRSR is coming off its first top-ten
finish in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón Series and heads
to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Round 6 with confidence they can keep moving up
the field in the competitive GT class.
Mid-Ohio is one of the classic North American road courses which can be very challenging
for the new competitor as well a seasoned veteran. It is a technical course requiring
precise car placement at the end of every straight and at every apex. The #75 JaguarRSR
XKR GT ran exceptionally strong at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago, and looks to build
from that momentum. The team has taken advantage of two promoter test days ahead
 of this weekend's event and feel like that have a good direction to start the race
weekend.
"We made some changes in between here and Lime Rock," said John Gentilozzi, JaguarRSR
Technical Director. "We had a chance to test them on Monday and validate those modifications,
and tried some more things on Tuesday with an opportunity to run before the rain
 really came down. We are satisfied with the time spent on track and obtained valuable
information that will help us prepare for the race on Saturday."
Paul Gentilozzi returns to the cockpit to pilot the #75 GT Jaguar racer with Marc
Goossens this weekend. Gentilozzi has quite an impressive resume at Mid-Ohio. He
 has made 13 starts, earned five poles, finished on the podium eight times with
three victories. Those three wins were flag-to-flag victories, and back-to-back-to-back
(1998, 1999, 2001) in Trans-Am competition with three different marques, Jaguar
being the most recent. The last time he raced at the Lexington, Ohio track was in
2002, where he finished second in the Trans-Am Jaguar XKR. Gentilozzi has made four
starts this season in the Jaguar GT (Sebring, Long Beach, Le Mans).
This is the second time Goossens will race at this venue. He previously competed
 in a Grand Am Daytona Prototype. This will be his first run at Mid-Ohio in a sports
car, but he has made five starts this season in the XKR GT, and looks forward to
 getting up to speed as quickly as possible. Goossens kept his GT driving skills
 sharp over the short break, as he competed in the 24 Hours of Spa in his native
 country Belgium just this past weekend.
Round 6 of 9 in the 2010 ALMS season officially starts with a Series Test Day on
 Thursday, followed by two practice sessions and GT qualifying at 1:55 pm ET on
Friday. The race is scheduled to take the green flag at 3:00 p.m. local time on
Saturday to kick off the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge, a 2 hour and 45 minute race.
WHAT THE DRIVERS HAVE TO SAY
Marc Goossens, co-Driver of the #75 JaguarRSR XKR GT
"As everyone noticed at Lime Rock two weeks ago, the car runs much better now and
I can't wait to make the JaguarRSR XKR GT a better handling car. We can now start
searching for a competitive balance and a much better grip level. We will continue
to work hard and go through some valuable test miles with the expectation of having
a solid race this weekend.
I really like the track at Mid-Ohio having raced here once before in a prototype.
I think it is a pretty technical track driving wise, and it is a great place to
showcase talent. I look forward to experiencing it in the XKR sports car racer."
Paul Gentilozzi, co-Driver of the #75 JaguarRSR XKR GT
"It is a real pleasure to take a first hand role in making our Jaguar XKR faster
 and more reliable. Standing on the timing stand plays an important part in our
progression, but I had not realized how much I needed to contribute to our progress
by being in the car.
It is especially important at a track like Mid-Ohio, a place where I have enjoyed
great pole qualifying and important wins.  It is the right place to be in the car."
LAP AROUND MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE by Paul Gentilozzi
There are tracks you go to race at and there are tracks you love to race at. Mid-Ohio
is the first road course I learned to drive on and has always been my favorite.
The late Jim Trueman taught me the track and I have carried his words for more than
two decades.
There is a rhythm to this track that most new road courses do not have. The laps
 fly by because the track always has your focus, you know what is over the rise
but you have to stay focused to make lap times.  Knowing where to pass and where
 lap times can be reduced are great assets in setting up the race car here.
The ability to transition from left to right plays a major role here, fifty percent
of the track is a series of "S" turns that are interconnected, one mistake and the
resulting 1/2 mile stretch is ruined. The exit from these important corner series
each lead to a reasonable straight so exit speed is vital.
Describing a lap around Mid-Ohio never makes sense to me, you have to do it and
feel it in person. It is easier to describe the Matterhorn at Disney than the joy
of driving at Mid Ohio.
