This scenario could be a possibility in the last two months of the 2010 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship chase. Right now Rodney Cook, the current point leader at Ace Speedway in Elon, NC has the lead in the National Championship with a point average of 3.7295. Cook continues to have a dream season at the 4/10-mile oval as he finished second to Dustin Rumley this past Friday night. It is only the third time he finished second so far this season but he also has one third place finish and the rest of his results are wins. While Cook is leading, there is a strong group of ASA Member Track point leaders working on chasing him down for the 2010 title. Corey Jankowski, the current leader in the Late Model division at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI had an up and down month of July but ended on a high note as he collected his fourth feature win this past Saturday night. Currently, Jankowski sits second overall with an average of 3.2487. Behind Jankowski is Bryan Wordelman, the current leader at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City, UT. He currently has a 58-point lead over Jason Aposhian in the ASA Modified track standings and is still looking for his first feature win this season. So far in ten events, he has seven top-ten finishes in which four are second places. He sits third overall with an average of 3.1178. Not far behind Wordelman is Ron Daniel, the current Late Model leader at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA. He has an average of 3.1156 in the national standings. He has finished in the top-ten in all of the feature events at Orange Show this year with half of them being in the top-five. He currently has a 25-point lead over Jeff Peterson in the track standings. Thomas Hill, the current leader in the ASA Modifieds at Meridian Speedway in Meridian, ID rounds out the top-five in the National Standings with an average of 3.0658. He currently has a 42-point lead over Shelby Stroebel in the track standings. Hill also has had a consistent start to his season and is still looking for his first victory of the 2010 season. He has five second place finishes so far this season. Behind the top-five are some competitors who can also make a charge to the front in the last two months of this season. Jeremy Miller picked up the feature win at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI this past Friday night and was able to add a small cushion to his point lead in the track standings. He currently has an average of 2.8889. Last year, Clint LaFont made a late season charge to the front but came up short to 2009 National Champion Tommy Cloce. He is appearing to start that same charge now as he finished second this past Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX. He currently has an average of 2.8151. Chris Weinkauf has won all but two features at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI so far this season with his latest win coming this past Thursday night by capturing his second Larry Detjens Memorial. He has an average of 2.4767. And at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO, Ken Dickinson has an average of 2.3133. He currently has an 82-point lead over Mike Slone in the Late Model standings with one feature win so far this season.
