Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum Announces First Extravaganza
Automobile for Auction

AUBURN -

The Fifth Annual Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum Benefit
Extravaganza will take place at the museum on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at
6 p.m. Seating is limited. The event promises to be a fun time for everyone
in attendance. Activities for the night include a silent auction, live
auction, gourmet dinner, live music, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and after-hours
museum touring! Automobiles offered at the Extravaganza are not from the
museum's collection.

A 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton will be one of the automobiles auctioned at the
Benefit Extravaganza. This is a fine example of Gordon Buehrig's
masterpiece. It is beautiful from every angle. When introduced at the New
York Auto Show in November 1935, the Cord was an instant sensation. People
actually stood on the other cars just to get a look at the car! Newspaper
accounts from the time stated that the new Cord would influence automotive
design for decades, and that it did.

The Cord contains 30 features that were later adopted by the industry
including front wheel drive, unit-body construction, retractable headlights
and the absence of running boards. In addition, the styling was
sensational. Many people can remember the exact moment when they first saw
a Cord. Very few automobiles have that affect on people.

A new Cord 812 Phaeton sold for $2,645 in 1937. This is your opportunity to
obtain a very rare and desirable car for your collection. The vehicle has
had a comprehensive restoration and is in outstanding condition.

The evening will feature a "Rat Pack" Las Vegas theme. Staff and board of
trustee members will be wearing shop jackets resembling those worn by Auburn
Automobile Company workers. Last year's benefit was an outstanding success,
providing funds for the not-for-profit museum's program efforts.

The Extravaganza is an evening that classic car enthusiasts will not want to
miss. It will take place in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. A
limited number of tickets are available at $125 per person. Get your tickets
now while they are still available. Proceeds benefit the Auburn Cord
Duesenberg Automobile Museum. Call Jan Schippers at (260) 925-1444 to
reserve your tickets.
