Chad Rayford - TORC Oshkosh Race Report
Rayford Glad to be Back Racing -
TORC Oshkosh Report
Appleton,
WI (July 28, 2010) - Chad Rayford was just glad to be back on the track behind
the wheel of his # 29 Maxxis Tire Independent Off-Road Nissan Frontier
competing in the reformulated PRO-Light division. Rayford had a sponsorship
package that allowed him to compete in the final six rounds of racing of 2009
TORC season, but since nothing came along for 2010, the #29 Nissan has been
sitting in a storage barn. That is until this past weekend.
Much of
this year Chad
has been working with fellow PRO-Light competitor Chris Brandt as he competes
in another race series. All along the goal for CR2 Motorsports is to find a
partner with the proper funding to keep his Maxxis Tire Nissan on the track.
"The TORC
Oshkosh event is only a few miles from home," noted Chad Rayford. "So I figured
I didn't really need much for tow money and Mike Vanden Heuvel from Independent
Off-Road helped me with the pit support, so why not go out get some seat time,
maybe someone will notice my effort and a deal can be made to keep me on track.
In the meantime, I'll take it one race at a time."
The one
race, to start the year, was the Oshkosh Off-Road Festival. Even though Chad's Nissan
is competing with a four cylinder powerplant, the lap times were very
competitive with the top finishers in the class. In fact during Friday
evening's Round 5 race, the black and blue #29 Nissan turned the second fastest
lap of the race. Even so, Chad finished
the first race of the weekend in seventh place. The Round 6 PRO-Light race had Chad
fighting through erratic
driving from a couple of his fellow competitors, and when the checkered flag
came out the lone Nissan in the field finished in ninth place.
"Our
finishes this weekend are not a reflection on how well our team can compete,"
commented Chad Rayford. "Last year we were a relative newcomer to the class and
we ran very well. In fact we just missed the podium a couple of times. Regardless
I really enjoyed racing again and with a little luck I'll be at Bark River.
I really have to thank Creighton from Maxxis Tires and Mike Vanden Heuvel for helping
me get back behind the wheel this weekend."
Chad
Rayford would like to thank his associate sponsors:
Independent
Off-Road
Maxxis Tire
AMSOIL
Jaz Products
The next
race on the 2010 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL schedule is August
14-15 in Bark River, Michigan.
Chad
Rayford is seeking marketing partners for the remainder of the 2010 race
