ARCHIE HAMILTON - HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR SECOND HALF OF SEASON
Archie Hamilton has set himself a tough goal for the rest of the season
expecting to take class wins and overall podium finishes in the Porsche
Carrera Cup GB. The 19 year old from Basingstoke is competing in his first
full season outside single seaters and has exceeded expectations by taking
class podiums and consistently finishing in the top five despite strong
rivals competing in the ProAm1 class this year.
From his motor racing outset Archie has set his sights on following in his
grandfather's footsteps by winning at Le Mans and the last four months has
seen him catapulted towards achieving his goal. He seized the opportunity to
compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup race supporting the Le Mans 24 Hours and
got his first taste of the legendary track as well as a Junior Class podium.
Archie's immediate focus is back in Britain with the remaining ten rounds of
the British Carrera Cup and his fight for more trophies.
Archie Hamilton:
"I'm very pleased that I've managed to improve as quickly as I have. It's
involved a lot of learning and there's still plenty more to come but it's
great to have picked up trophies before the mid-season break in such a tough
series. I didn't know what to expect at the start of the season and to be
fighting in the top ten is really good. I just want a win and an overall
podium now which is going to be very tough.
"To have competed at Le Mans has just made my dream seem so much closer and
I'll be doing everything I can to get there as soon as possible. The Porsche
Carrera Cup has been a great start and over the next few months we'll be
assessing the best option for next year. It could be that we choose to stay
where we are for another season but I'm hoping to test in LMP2 with a view
to competing in the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans if I'm going to be
equipped for that."
Stuart Hall, Driver Coach:
"I've been working with Archie for a year now and it's been very rewarding
helping him progress. I'm hoping that my skills and guidance will help him
achieve his goal. I see no reason why he won't continue to impress the
motorsport world."
Archie's next race is at Snetterton, Norfolk on 7th/8th August. For further
