SYDNEY – July 30, 2010: A Western Suburbs Football Club which two years ago was set to close its doors due to financial pressures, became a World Cup Winner in a recent combined Australian Radio Network and Kia Motors Australia promotion.

The Kia Community Car give away was promoted throughout the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Jonesy and Amanda’s WSFM breakfast program.

The competition asked football clubs from throughout Sydney to register online through the WSFM website explaining how they are impacting football in their local community.

As winners of the competition Blacktown City Football Club received a brand new Limited Edition Kia Cerato SLi automatic valued at $27,990 drive away.

With more than $3,000 of added value the club decided to keep the car, incorporating it into a coaching development program.

The club beat hundreds of other submissions and is about to embark on an exciting new training program to develop the future of football in the Blacktown community and, potentially, the Nation. With a strong belief that the standard of football is linked directly to the quality of coaching available, the club has embarked on a coaching development program designed to enhance all aspects of the game in the community and ultimately strengthen the future of Australian football.

“The Western Suburbs Football Club is committed to enhancing not only participation of football in Sydney’s western suburbs but also the quality of football through a coaching education program,” said Kia National Marketing Manager, Steve Watt.

“Their foresight and commitment to the game in their community and to the sport at large was what provided them with the winning edge in the Kia Community Car Promotion. They are worthy winners as highlighted by their plan to use the car to support their coaching program rather than to auction it off for financial benefit.”

For 57 years, the Club has competed at the highest level in NSW and is one of the leading elite development clubs in the country, producing some of the greatest national footballers and coaches.

The Club’s new Cerato SLi comes standard with a long list of extras including 17-inch alloy wheels and front fog lights and a six-function trip computer, cruise control, USB and iPod compatible six-speaker sound system. Adding to that, the Limited has several unique enhancements which include leather seats, electric sunroof, body kit and rear spoiler.
