He recently collected his eighth feature win of the season at Ace Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Elon, NC. Cook has an average of 3.3325 with two months left in the 2010 championships season. ASA Member Tracks will have until September 26, 2010 to post results towards the National Championship where, again, the 2010 Champion will get a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing. "He is making it exciting for our fans," Brad Allen, Promoter of Ace Speedway recently said. "They enjoy watching him work his way through the field and race to the front. He and his closest rival Dustin Rumley along with the rest of the Late Model division are putting on some fantastic races that is getting the crowd on their feet." Last Friday, Cook was able to get past Rumley for the feature win. Where a week before it was Rumley crossing the finish line ahead of Cook. Bryan Wordelman is second overall with a 3.1178. Wordelman is the current point leader at Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City, UT. He currently has a 58-point lead over Jason Aposhian in the track standings. Ron Daniel continues to lead the standings in the Late Model division at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA. He is third in the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship standings with and not far behind Wordelman with a 3.1156. Corey Jankowski is in a tight points battle at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI. He currently has an 18-point lead over Davey Pennel in the track standings, in fact the top-five is separated by 43 points. Jankowski is fourth overall in the National Standings with a 2.9167. Thomas Hill rounds out the top-five in the National Standings with a 2.8145. Thomas currently has a 42-point lead over his brother Jeff Hill and Shelby Stroebel in the track standings. "This is awesome! Not only do we have a tight battle at the top of the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship standings, but most of our ASA Member Tracks do as well," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. The goal of the ASA Short Track National Championship is to activate a measuring system which takes into account many variables - such as field size, inversion, wins and number of races in a season - and create a level playing field to determine who is the 'best-of-the-best' of the ASA Member Track Champions nationwide.
