Mitch Dorr - TORC Oshkosh Race Report
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DORR Takes Second Twice @ Oshkosh Rockford, IL (July 27, 2010) - In only his second full season of TORCSportsman racing, Mitch Dorr is a force to be reckoned with. One of the hard charging young gunsof TORC, Mitch continues to race at the front of the field. That latest evidence of this are the back to back runner up finishes at the Oshkosh Speedzone. The Oshkosh Speedzone is no stranger to Mitch Dorr. In 2009 he was a major player in some of the best short course off-road racing ever witnessed. The story was much of the same in 2010. Friday night had the red #817 Fabricated Steel ATD Goodyear Ford F-150starting in the back half of the fourteen truck field. Always up for the challenge, Mitch let it all hang out as soon as the green flagwas dropped. By lap seven Mitch was battling Scott Beauchamp for the lead. The next lap he seized the moment and took over the top spot. The final five laps became a shootout between the #817 Fabricated Steel Ford and #837 Eric Ruppel. The two would be door to door briefly almost every lap until Mitch was able to "shut the door" on Ruppel. Then as the two Ford truck came through the final turn of the race, Mitch lost his momentum when second gear broke allowing Ruppel to slip by for the win. "Man we had that race," remarked Mitch Dorr. "It's always great so race someone like Rupe, he's such a competitor, we raced cleaned, but this one hurts. Watch us tomorrow." The next morning Mitch and his crew replaced the transmission, grooved up a new set of Goodyear Tires and were ready by lunchtime. Round Eight saw Mitch starting mid pack with most of the front runners starting further back. By lap six the GoodyearFord F-150was up to fifth place. The next lap Mitch made all the right moves and reached the second spot. The final five laps Mitch made time on the leader Scott Beauchamp, but the laps ran out before serious challenge could be mounted. At the finish, the #817 Fabricated Steel ATD Goodyear Ford F-150 was awarded a hard fought second place. "We really had our work cut out for us today," noted Mitch Dorr. "Our truck was working great, the King Shocks, the ATD trans, the Goodyear tires, everything was spot on. We just ran out of laps to run down Scott. With only two weekends of racing left, the racing at Bark River is going to get real serious." Mitch Dorr is currently in third place in the 2010 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL Super Stock Truck Championshipstandings.
