Mitsubishi Motors Announces Production, Sales and Export Figures for June 2010 and First Six Months of Calendar 2010

TOKYO - July 27, 2010-Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for June 2010 and for the first six months of calendar 2010.
June 2010
Production: total and in Japan
Total
global production for June came in at 92,324 units, 59.8 percent up over
June 2009 and the eighth consecutive monthly increase since November 2009.
Production volume in Japan at 54,667 units was 66.1 percent up
year-on-year, the seventh consecutive monthly year-on-year increase.
Passenger car output at 47,547 units was 84.2 percent up over the same
period last year. Commercial vehicle output at 7,120 units was 0.4 percent
up year-on-year.
Sales in Japan
Vehicle sales in Japan in June totaled 15,678
units, 17.7 percent up on the same month last year and the eighth
consecutive monthly year-on-year rise since November 2009. Sales of
passenger cars at 11,588 units were 23.6 percent up year-on-year and sales
of commercial vehicles at 4,090 units were 3.7 percent up year-on-year.
Registered vehicle sales volume at 5,907 units was 25.7 percent up on the
same month last year. Minicar sales volume at 9,771 units was 13.3 percent
up year-on-year.
Production overseas
Overseas production volume totaled 37,657
units, 51.3 percent up over June last year and the eighth consecutive
monthly year-on-year increase. By region, output in Asia at 30,513 units
was 84.3 percent up year-on-year boosted chiefly by 15.6 percent, 28.4
percent, 229.1 percent and 100.0 percent increases at China Motor Corp. in
Taiwan, South East (Fujian) Motor in China, MMTh in Thailand and KRM in
Indonesia respectively. In North America, output at 937 units was 9.8
percent up over June last year when production was still at a virtual
standstill. In Europe, output at 1,944 units was 52.2 percent down
year-on-year as sales in the region remained sluggish. In South America
output at 3,840 units was 21.9 percent up over the same period last year as
sales at MMC Automotores do Brasil Ltda. continued to recover.
Export shipments from Japan
Total exports from Japan of 37,513
units were 157.2 percent up on June 2009, marking the seventh consecutive
monthly year-on-year rise. Exports to Asia at 5,270 units were 106.0
percent up year-on-year mainly on the back of a 150.0 percent increase in
shipments to China and helped by a continuing rise in shipments to
Malaysia. Exports to North America at 3,727 units were 34.2 percent up over
the same period last year. Exports to Europe at 17,012 units were 1,044.8
percent up year-on-year, boosted by large increases to Russia, The Ukraine,
Germany, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.

production at 506,987 units rose 83.2 percent over the same period in 2009,
the first year-on-year increase since the first-half of calendar 2007 .
Production volume in Japan at 306,458 units was 89.9 percent up on the
previous year, the first increase for the period in two years. At 267, 971
units and 38,487 units, passenger car and commercial vehicle output were
respectively 105.6 percent and 24.0 percent up on 2009.
Sales in Japan
In the first six months of calendar 2010 total
global production at 506,987 units rose 83.2 percent over the same period
in 2009, the first year-on-year increase since the first-half of calendar
2007 . Production volume in Japan at 306,458 units was 89.9 percent up on
the previous year, the first increase for the period in two years. At 267,
971 units and 38,487 units, passenger car and commercial vehicle output
were respectively 105.6 percent and 24.0 percent up on 2009.
Production overseas

months of calendar 2010 totaled 254,529 units, 75.7 percent up over the
previous year, and the first increase since the first half of calendar
2003. By region, output in Asia at 203,917 units was 103.5 percent up
year-on-year, boosted chiefly by 44.8 percent, 107.3 percent, 167.8 percent
and 84.2 percent increases at China Motor Corp. in Taiwan, South East
(Fujian) Motor in China, MMTh in Thailand and KRM in Indonesia
respectively. In North America, output at 13,093 units was 158.6 percent
over the first half of 2009 when production was halted for most of the
first six months. In Europe, output at 15,163 units was 38.9 percent down
year-on-year due to sluggish sales. In South America output at 19,830 units
was 51.3 percent up over the same period last year as sales at MMC
Automotores do Brasil Ltda. continued to recover.
Export shipments from Japan
Exports from Japan for the first
six months of calendar 2010 at 201,588 units registered a 154.4 percent
increase over the same period last year, the first rise since the first
half of calendar 2008. By region, export shipments to Asia at 24,515 units
were 138.2 percent up year-on-year, boosted chiefly by a three-fold
increase to China and by significant increases to Malaysia, Hong Kong and
South Korea. Exports to North America at 21,936 units were 79.6 percent up
year-on-year. Shipments to Europe at 70,113 units were 253.3 percent up
over the same period last year as sales in Russia in particular bounced
back strongly.
