StEP: Earn a Double Degree at Audi

INGOLSTADT, GERMANY – July 26, 2010: Enrollees in the Audi StEP Program (“Study and Experience in Practice”) acquire top-notch expertise and hands-on experience. 24 new slots are available for 2011. Participants can ultimately earn a double degree.
The StEP program intelligently combines a degree in applied sciences with a vocational-training certificate. Julia Weissberger, a third-year StEP enrollee, is well aware of the benefits: “It’s never dull! The StEP program is fascinating and offers great variety. And the emphasis on real-world experience helps me learn everything in great detail.” Julia Weissberger has plenty of reasons to be enthusiastic. She and other participants work in project teams, gain experience in various departments, and acquire specialized classroom knowledge. Moreover, participants receive financial assistance for the duration of the program. What’s more, Audi encourages them to explore the big picture: StEP enrollees can spend up to two semesters abroad.
Dual-track education is very popular among secondary-school graduates. Dr. Werner Widuckel, Member of the Board for Human Resources at AUDI AG, explains why that is the case: “Practical experience is valuable and prepares young people very well for the working world. And this is precisely the benefit that our StEP program offers.”
Julia Weissberger agrees; after all, she will earn her double degree in spring 2013: not only a Bachelor of Engineering from Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, but also a vocational-training degree – issued by a Chamber of Industry and Commerce – which certifies her as an automotive mechanic or mechatronic.
And then? She and other graduates will have a good chance of working for the most popular employer among students. In 2010 alone, Audi will ultimately hire more than 350 new experts. “Because StEP participants work in various specialist departments, they are thoroughly knowledgeable about Audi upon graduating – which is naturally of tremendous benefit,” says Michael Groß, Head of Personnel Marketing at AUDI AG.
The Company is looking for young technology enthusiasts to join its ranks in 2011, too. From July 26 through late September, anybody who enjoys hands-on learning and has a passion for automotive engineering can apply – provided that they will have a secondary-school diploma (Abitur or Fachabitur) by summer 2011.
