SYDNEY – July 26, 2010: Hyundai Motor Company Chairman Chung Mong-Koo has been named an Automotive News All-Star having received the prestigious award for “Top Asian CEO” 2010.
The awards, considered by many in the industry to be the most prestigious in the U.S., are highly respected. This is not the first time Chung Mong-Koo has received the award having had the honour bestowed on him in 2005.
Automotive News stated, “Chung turned the Hyundai brand into a superpower, boosting global sales and share in defiance of a torturous world economy that had rivals floundering. The Korean boss pushed his company into new segments, built on steady and dramatic improvements in quality and handed U.S. executives more autonomy.”
In further recognition of executive management excellence, two senior Hyundai Motor America executives were also honoured in the 2010 Automotive News All-Star awards. HMA President and CEO, John Krafcik was named Top U.S. Executive for an Asian Automaker and HMA Vice President of Sales, Dave Zuchowski earned the honours of Top Executive for Sales.
The Automotive News All-Stars are the auto industry's version of the Australian Cricket or Rugby ‘Dream Teams’ with the best-of-the best selected from each of 21 executive business management categories, with Automotive News reporters and editors having selected the award recipients annual since the first All-Stars were named in 1981.
