Anderson Continues his Bandimere Learning Process, Qualifies Eighth

Event: 31st annual Mopar Parts Mile High Nationals
Location: Bandimere Speedway, Morrison, CO
Day/Date: Saturday, July 24, 2010

In the first three qualifying sessions for the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, CO. Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team were among the best in the highly competitive Pro Stock division, with their times never falling out of the Top Five positions. However, despite improving on their previous best during their fourth and final attempt, their 7.007-second time and 196.70 mph speed slotted them in the eighth starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations. Despite his natural disappointment, Anderson nevertheless saw many positives in his overall qualifying effort, and was cautiously optimistic about his chances for a third Bandimere Speedway win.

“We lost a little ground on that last run,?? said Anderson. “We actually got the chassis a little happier, but went backwards with the motor tune-up. Obviously, when you go in one direction and it runs slower, you go back the other way, so I think we’re going to be all right for tomorrow. We’re happy with our Summit Racing Pontiacs, but our motors are acting a little finicky here on the mountain.

“We’re trying different things on every run to get them dialed in, and we may have taken a step backward on that last run, but you can learn just as much from that as you can a positive performance. I think we’re going to be just fine tomorrow. We may not be able to match what the top car is running, but I think we can get close enough to make it a driver’s race. I believe we have a great chance for tomorrow, and am looking forward to coming out here in the morning and getting started, because we are not far off.??
