Mid-Michigan Motorplex Brings Out Hometown Winners

                STANTON, Mich. (July 12, 2010) - In the final results from Mid-Michigan Motorplex and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, a pair of Michigan racers took home the wins as Charley Downing and Rock Haas each visited the winner's circle.
Downing, Britton, Mich., faced off against Ryan Haag, Memphis, Ind., in Super Stock and posted a winning run of 9.401 seconds, 145.34 mph in his '10 Mustang. Haag drove to a 9.830 second, 133.96 mph lap for his runner up finish.  Haas, of White Lake, Mich., took on Richard Kurth, Walnut, Ill., in the Super Gas category and drive his '05 Corvette to victory in 9.959 seconds at 160.05 mph.
Brian Browell, Lafayette, Ind., worked his way through the Comp Eliminator field and ran 7.251 seconds at 181.48 mph in his final round victory over Steve Ambrose, Woodhaven, Mich., who clocked in at 7.848 seconds, 767.13 mph and former NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock standout Dave Connolly won the in the division's Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster class over Mark Harmon.  Connolly posted a time of 7.116 seconds at 190.79 mph in his dragster.
Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Rusty Cook, Cynthiana, Ky., in Super Comp; Tommy Mattingly, Louisville, Ky., in Stock Eliminator; Darryl Young, Mt. Gilead, Ohio, in Super Street and Glenn Butcher, Doylestown, Ohio, in Top Sportsman.
                North Central Division racers head to National Trail Raceway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, July 23-25.
